- Sun Block (for surfing; facestick and lotion)
- Reusable Water Bottle (extra water)
- Healthy Lunch with Snacks (Mandatory Requirement)
- Flip Flops (needed for hot sand)
- Wetsuit (optional as we also provide them)
Check In/Out
To prevent crowding, patience and consideration is required in the Check In/Out areas. The check in process is quick and easy, be prepared for:
- Aqua Surf Staff will be prepared to check in your campers via mobil or tablet and answer questions
- Campers will be directed to their designated surf groups for an epic day of waves.
- During Check In/Out, parents are welcome to wait near/in their cars so campers may be escorted by staff.
Please simply signal our staff and be patient.
- 8:45am to 9:15am Check… in for Full, and AM session
- 11:45am to 12:15pm Check… out for AM session, and in for PM session
- 2:45pm to 3:15pm Check… out for Full, and PM session
FAQs
How do we make sure campers don't get sunburnt?
It’s a team effort and the sun doesn’t take days off. Please pack your camper a HAT (preferably full-brimmed) and have them apply surf/ocean specific sunscreen to the face before arriving. It really helps if parents tell campers that sunscreen is a requirement at surf camp and that staff can and will help them apply it, especially on the face.
It’s especially important to have a sunscreen that can withstand ocean waves. We recommend a spreadable Zinc Oxide sunscreen, or a surf face stick like Avasol or Vertra. Spray-on sunscreens often wash off while surfing and are not appropriate for the face. Sunscreen is part of being a surfer, so we apply throughout the day at surf camp including sunscreen checks before and after surf sessions. Sunscreen will be available for purchase every morning at the AQUA SURF check-in table.
What is policy on campers having PHONES at surf camp?
Surf camp is a perfect break from screens for kids. While campers are not prohibited from bringing phones, we ask that phones stay away in backpacks if brought to the beach at all. It helps if parents can help remind campers of this. Campers do not need their phones during surf camp and we want them to have real epic summer memories. Time scrolling at the beach is lost and does not create the formative experiences that build character or confidence. Staff & Camp Directors have phones with access to all camper emergency contact information from the beach. Surf camp is an “irl” activity
Will my camper be in the same group as a friend or sibling?
Yes – we don’t separate friends at surf camp. Surfing with friends is one of the best parts of the experience 🤙
Throughout the day, campers are grouped thoughtfully by general age and skill level to ensure safety, appropriate instruction, and the most fun possible. We won’t group 5-year-olds with teens, and we won’t split up 4th graders from their 5th-grade friends.
During water time, there may be moments when campers are organized by ability – for example, surfers who are ready to paddle and catch waves more independently may be grouped separately from those who need more hands-on guidance. This allows us to maintain our high safety standards while helping every surfer progress at their own pace.
During lunch, beach games, and downtime, camp has a family-style feel, and campers are encouraged to spend time with friends and siblings.

Map & Directions
45th Street – El Porto (Manhattan Beach)
Our surf camp is located at the bottom of the ramp at 45th street. Our instructors will meet you there between 8:45am -9am for morning check-in, and 3:00pm for afternoon pick up. If you are dropping off or picking up at noon, please meet us on the beach by our AQUA SURF canopy near the lifeguard tower. We are near the address: 4418 The Strand, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266
