FAQs
How do I prevent sunburns?
Pack your camper a HAT (preferably full-brimmed) and have them apply surf/ocean specific sunscreen to the face before arriving. It is very important to have a sunscreen that can withstand ocean waves. We recommend a spreadable Zinc Oxide sunscreen, as spray-on sunscreens often wash off while surfing. Sunscreen is part of being a surfer, so we reapply throughout the day at surf camp. Sunscreen will be available for purchase every morning at the AQUA SURF check-in table.
Are AQUASURF staff vaccinated for COVID-19?
Yes, all Aqua Surf camp staff are vaccinated.
What is the policy on face masks?
Face masks are optional for staff and campers during time on the sand. Face masks are not permitted in the water.
May parents and guardians hang out on the beach at camp?
In our experience, most kids/teens have a richer camp experience when they are given space to acclimate and experience camp on their own (especially on Mondays & Tuesdays). Parents and guardians may visit the beach at any time but we encourage you to visit on Fridays between 10:30am and 11:30am for our weekly Aloha Friday surf contest. If you want to visit the beach to watch your camper surf, we ask that you check in with a Camp Director first for safety purposes.
Other: Please refer to our POLICY for cancellations, reschedules, and refunds.
We encourage AQUA SURF students to stay connected with us via social media. Look out for our discounted winter lessons, spring break camps, birthday beach surf parties, and surfing trips. AQUA SURF teaches every day — all year round.

Map & Directions
Santa Monica Beach – Just North of Lifeguard Tower 28
Our Aqua Surf Truck is parked in the lot across the street from the Ocean View Park (address: 2701 Barnard Way, Santa Monica, CA). We are near the border of Santa Monica and Venice Beach. Check In and Pick Up will be near the South end of the parking on the boardwalk across from our blue beach canopies. Look for the big blue Surf Truck. The lot requires payment for parking but parents should be allowed entrance to the lot without paying if they tell the attendant that they are simply dropping off/picking up children and not parking.
